When I was a student at the Culinary Institute of America, years before I got into the drug trade, we had a three-week class dedicated to the sandwich.
We spent a full day on the BLT, the main issue being the correct placement of the ingredients. It’s a terrific sandwich. In this version I have added avocado, the creaminess adds another level of texture and taste that just ups the ante.

A few years ago, I decided to boycott tomatoes when not in season. A tomato should be ripe, juicy, and bursting with flavor. I do occasionally make an exception for cherry tomatoes in the off season, but I am roasting them to bring out the tomato flavor. I think a mid-winter tomato is an abomination. Come on, they are pale and tasteless.
I have chosen Lemon Dosi, from Pruf Cultivar, for this recipes’ infusion. It’s sweet and floral, with a blast of citrus, and a peppery bite that I love. By the way, smoking this strain is quite pleasant, upbeat, and potent. It’s one of my favorite strains for both clear focus, and relaxation, as those effects do not necessarily go hand in hand.
BLT and A, Major Upgrade
Serves 2, 5mg. THC per sandwich
Ingredients
- 1
avocado, peeled, pitted and thinly sliced
- 2
teaspoons lemon juice
- 4
slices hearty white sandwich bread
- 4
tablespoons mayonnaise*
- 2
teaspoons cannabis infused oil or butter, softened
- 6
slices chewy bacon, regular cut, not thick
- 4
leaves crisp lettuce
- 1
large tomato, ¼ inch thick slices and salted

Instructions
- In a small bowl, toss the avocado gently in the lemon juice, keeping the slices intact. Set aside.
- Toast the bread. Combine the mayo with the infused oil.
- While the bread is still warm, spread 1 tablespoon canna-mayonnaise on one side of each slice.
- Layer 3 bacon strips, 2 lettuce leaves, a few avocado slices, and 2 tomato slices on a bread slice. Top with the remaining bread slice. Repeat for the second sandwich.
- Using a serrated knife, cut each sandwich in half before serving.
