Hebrew University Multidisciplinary Center For Cannabinoid Research

About

The Hebrew University School of Pharmacy’s Multidisciplinary Center for Cannabinoid Research was founded in 2017 to be a world leader in research on cannabinoids, endocannabinoids and medical cannabis, and how marijuana can affect a wide range of health conditions, including cancer, pain, and inflammation, among others.

One of the main goals of the research center is “to foster collaborations between its own participating laboratories and many other well-established groups around the globe who are conducting research on cannabinoids, endocannabinoids and medical cannabis.”

The center brings together scientists and medical doctors from a variety of faculties at Hebrew University, including in chemistry, biotechnology, agriculture sciences, and much more.

The center’s president is Dr. Raphael Mechoulam, who has been researching cannabis for more than 50 years. Mechoulam and his research team were the first to isolate tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychotropic cannabinoid in marijuana.
