Cannabis & Academia Scholarship Program
Overview:
The Cannigma is launching its first annual Cannabis & Academia Scholarship, awarding $1,000 to a student who submits the most compelling short essay or blog post on the topic:
“From anecdote to evidence: Why science-based cannabis education matters to my career path, education, and society at-large”
This program aims to encourage thoughtful exploration of the role of cannabis in academic life—be it scientific research, wellness, policy reform, or personal narrative.
The Cannigma invites applicants to reflect on how evidence-based cannabis education has influenced your academic journey, career aspirations, or worldview. You may share personal stories, classroom experiences, or moments where cannabis knowledge helped clarify misconceptions, support your wellness, or spark curiosity in fields like medicine, biology, psychology, public health, agriculture, or social justice.
We welcome thoughtful, well-structured writings (including citations and references) that connect your personal journey with the broader importance of cannabis literacy in education and society. How has learning the science behind the plant – from the endocannabinoid system to cannabinoid research – helped shape your understanding of health, medicine, or policy? How could better cannabis education create a healthier, more informed future?
“We encourage original, human-centered writing. Light use of AI tools (e.g., for grammar or brainstorming) is acceptable, but your original ideas and voice should shine through.”
